I love a good kitchen gadget! This one, the Tefal Actifry, came highly recommended to me from a chef friend who swears he uses his every day for every meal! Good enough of an endorsement for me, that was my Mother’s Day wish list ready for this year!
It’s a very space-age looking item, pretty big and with a bit of weight in it so you need a good clear out of a kitchen press to house this when not in use! So far, I wouldn’t say I use it daily and for all meals but I probably could. It’s just about getting used to reaching for it I guess. The purpose of the Acifry is healthier cooking and it’s time-saving. The cooker does most of the work for you, it constantly stirs the contents at a steady temperature of 170c or 338f and requires between 0-2 tablespoons of oil only. It has a countdown timer which you set according to what you’re cooking, chips take about 40 minutes whereas chopped chicken breast takes only 20 minutes. The chips are tasty, crispy and importantly, not greasy.
I could definitely use this piece of kitchen machinery a lot more often and it’s been a really great asset to my meal times lately. It’s also super easy to remove the inner pan and paddle and wash in warm soapy water and these are also dishwasher safe. It comes with a recipe book and there are many more recipes available online.
